K&K Therapy

Hi! My name is Taran, and I am a Registered Social Worker in Ontario. Since graduating with a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, I have dedicated my practice to promoting the mental health and well-being of children, youth, and families.

In my clinical practice, I support children, adolescents, and young adults in navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, learning disabilities, and developmental differences. I work with clients to help them develop coping skills, improve emotion regulation, and learn skills to manage daily stressors. I also work closely with caregivers and families to help them build their strengths and maintain a supportive home environment for positive and healthy development.

In addition to my work with children and families, I have worked with victims of crime and tragedy, providing trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices to help youth, adults, and families cope, heal, and regain a sense of safety and stability after a crisis.

My clinical practice is collaborative and client-centred, with an emphasis on early intervention, skill-building, and empowerment. I integrate evidence-informed approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness. I tailor every method to the unique needs of individuals while placing their lived experiences and strengths at the forefront.

Beyond the therapy room, I have practical experience with case management and inter-system collaboration. This has entailed working with schools, health care providers, law enforcement, and community agencies to assist individuals and their families’ access to appropriate resources and cohesive care.

At the center of my practice is an investment in fostering safety, personal growth, and meaningful change through empowerment of each individual’s strengths, challenges, and lived experiences.

*** I am accepting new clients. I offer both virtual and in-person sessions in Vaughan during the daytime, evening, and weekends, depending on availability. Next day appointments available.

Hi! My name is Sam and I am a registered Social Worker in Ontario. Since completing my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto, I have been working in the field of mental health as a clinical therapist with children, youth, and families.

I offer counseling to individuals from elementary aged youth into adulthood. I include young people in my clinical practice to support them in managing strong emotions and to help them cope with difficult life circumstances. I believe in early intervention and skill development as a way to build resilience for adverse events later in life, and to prevent the development of more complex mental health and behavioural concerns.

Many of the young people I work with present with symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, and learning disabilities. Many of my clients struggle with self-esteem, dealing with difficult family events, bullying, navigating peer relationships, social skill development, and struggles with emotional regulation, including anger, worry, or sadness. I also commonly work with parents and caregivers to help them to manage and cope with their children’s behaviours. Fundamental to my work with families is teaching caregivers skills to help create spaces and lifestyles best suited for fostering the positive development of children and youth. Outside of my work with children, youth, and families; I focus on supporting adult clients experiencing challenges with interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, career stress, general stress management, and life transitions.

In my clinical practice I take a client centered approach, working collaboratively with individuals to develop goals which will guide the time we spend together. I use a framework that recognizes each individual’s strengths, while holding a place for your diverse background and the previous life experiences that have brought you to therapy. I consider neuroscience research and a variety of evidence based practices in my therapeutic practice. I utilize therapy techniques from a variety of modalities inducing; cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), trauma informed care, play based therapy, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness.

Outside of my clinical sessions, I have experience in case management. In this work I liaise with other health professionals, school boards, and other community resources to support my clients that participate in clinical sessions. For young clients this support can be invaluable to ensure that their day-to-day environments are prepared to set them up for success. I also provide support and consultation with teachers and other child educators in understanding complex behaviours, teaching behaviour management skills, and developing resources for their classroom and education settings.

** I am accepting new clients. My services are available to all residents of Ontario by online (video) sessions. Next day appointments available. Daytime, evening and weekends depending on availability. Now offering in person sessions in Vaughan.
